Address validation

Check US addresses against USPS data before you buy a label. Each address comes back valid, warning, suggested or invalid. Take the suggested address or keep your own, which is then marked unverified.

How it works

On the ship page, select Verify address under a US destination. The address is checked before you buy, and the result shows in place.

  • Address verified: The address checked out.
  • Validation warnings: The address is usable. The notes say what was corrected or filled in.
  • Suggested correction: A corrected version is shown. Select Use suggested to apply it, or Keep mine to ship to the address as you entered it.
  • Address invalid: The address couldn't be validated. Check it before you buy.

If you keep your own address, the shipment is marked Using unverified address. Select it to see the suggestion again.

Change the destination and the result clears, so the new address gets checked fresh.

On orders

Use Validate Address on one order, or select many orders in the Orders list and validate them together. Corrections to the street, city, state or postal code are saved to the order, and the results show how many were corrected and why any failed.

Workflows can validate addresses as orders come in with the Validate the address step.

See Address Validation in the knowledge base for what each result means.
