Scan-verify

Turn on Require scan verify and SKUs can't be typed or pasted into a carton, so every item has to be scanned. If a scan matches more than one line, packout refuses it. Packout can play a sound on each scan so you know it registered without looking at the screen.

How it works

Turn on Require scan verify in Settings, Packout & printing. While it's on, the Add 1 and Add all buttons next to each line are hidden, so items only go into a carton by scan. In SKU bulk batches, the count for each order can't be entered by hand either.

Every scan is checked

Packout matches each scan to a line on the order by its SKU or UPC and adds one unit to the active carton. A message shows the running count, such as 2 of 3 for that line.

A scan is turned away when:

  • the line has already shipped in full.
  • every unit on the line is already packed.
  • it matches no item, carton or order. You'll see No match found with the value you scanned.

Sound on a bad scan

With Play sound on scan turned on, packout plays a warning sound when a scan is turned away. The packer knows something is wrong without looking at the screen.

Every scan, including the ones that fail, is recorded in the pack session for that order.
