Desktop app

Run ShipGenius as a desktop app on macOS, Windows or Linux. It prints straight to your local printers and reads USB scales without any extra software. The app updates itself, and changes to ShipGenius show up the next time you open it.

How ShipGenius differs

The desktop app prints directly to the printers on your computer and reads USB scales. A packing station doesn't need the Device Server or a print dialog for each label. This is something we always wished we had with other software.

What it does

The desktop app runs the same ShipGenius you use in the browser, in its own window with a custom toolbar and global search.

  • Direct printing: labels and packing slips go straight to your local printers. You don't click through a print dialog for each one.
  • USB scales: live weight from USB scales, read by the app itself without the Device Server.
  • Updates: the app updates itself, and changes to ShipGenius reach it the next time it launches.
  • Notifications: native desktop notifications, with a badge on the dock icon on macOS.

Setting up a packing station

Download the installer for macOS, Windows or Linux from Settings, Desktop app in the web app. Then choose your label printer, packing slip printer, label format and scale in Settings, Packout & printing.

With auto-ship turned on, the label prints on its own once every item is packed.

Working in the browser instead

If you'd rather stay in the browser, install the Device Server. It gives the web app the same access to your local printers and USB scales.
