Routing guides
Set rules that choose which facility fulfills an order. Allow split shipments when an order can ship from more than one facility.
How it works
A routing guide decides which facility fulfills an order. Create one under Automation, in Routing Guides, and give it a name such as West Coast Routing.
What a guide has
- Priority Facility: The facility the guide sends orders to.
- Allow Split Shipments: Marks whether orders on this guide may be fulfilled from two different facilities. The app tells you to use it sparingly.
Using a guide
Routing guides do their work in workflows. Add the Send to a facility step and choose the guide instead of a facility. Each order the workflow runs on is routed to the guide's facility.
Pair the step with conditions to send different orders through different guides. One guide can handle orders bound for the west coast and another the rest, with the workflow picking between them by the ship-to state.
Why it matters
Order batches and batch runs are built per facility, and an order needs a facility before a batch run can use it. A routing guide in a workflow makes sure new orders have one as soon as they arrive.
