Hold labels

Put an order on hold with a reason so it can't ship until it's released. When a carrier refuses a shipment in packout, the order goes on hold and a 4x6 hold label prints with the reason, the carrier error and a QR code. A banner on the order shows the reason and lets you release it.

How ShipGenius differs

A refused shipment puts the order on hold and prints a 4x6 hold label right away, as PDF or ZPL, on your label printer. The label carries the hold reason, the last carrier error and a QR code that opens the order.

Placing an order on hold

Use Hold / Unhold on one order or many. Pick a reason, such as No Customs Info, Bad Address or Shipping Error, or type your own. Orders on hold can't be shipped or fulfilled until the hold is removed. Placing a hold needs the hold order permission.

When a carrier refuses a shipment

If a ship fails in packout, ShipGenius puts the order on hold with the carrier's error as the reason and prints a hold label.

  • Format: 4x6, as PDF or ZPL, sent to the same printer as your shipping labels.
  • Contents: the hold reason, the most recent shipping error, and a QR code to pull up the order.

Scan the QR code later to open the order and fix what the carrier rejected.

In a batch

In a mass batch, refused orders go on hold together and their hold labels print with the rest of the batch when you print all labels. A batch with held orders stays open until those orders ship.

Releasing a hold

Held orders show an On hold banner in packout with the reason. Release it with Hold / Unhold on the banner, and the order is ready to ship again.
