Rate groups

Put a set of carrier services in a rate group and ShipGenius picks the best one that qualifies when an order ships. Set a maximum cost, a transit-time guarantee, a number of delivery days or a deliver-by date. Services the group rules out are shown with the reason.

How ShipGenius differs

A rate group rates every service in it when the order ships and picks the cheapest or fastest one that meets your limits. You can assign it to an order, map it to an integration, or hand an order to it from a workflow. This ensures your orders are always going out with the service you want without ever manually selecting one.

How it works

A rate group is a named set of carrier services. When an order is fulfilled, ShipGenius rates every service in the group and picks the best one that passes your limits. Set a rate group on an order, map it to an integration's shipments, or send orders to it from a workflow.

Pick the winner

Each group has a Selection priority. Cheapest picks the lowest cost of the services that qualify. Fastest picks the earliest estimated delivery.

Set the limits

A service has to pass every limit you set to be picked.

  • Max cost: Services that come back above this amount are left out.
  • Delivery within days: Services that take longer are left out. Count all calendar days or only business days.
  • Deliver by date: Services that arrive after this date are left out.
  • Shipping time guarantee: Require an estimated delivery date, or a delivery date the carrier guarantees.

See why a service was left out

Services the group rules out still show in the results with the reason, so you can see which limit removed them.

Rate groups are set up in Settings and need access to carrier accounts. Read Rate groups for every setting.
