Workflow builder

Write your fulfillment rules as a workflow. Build it with cards in Builder, or edit the YAML in Code. It checks as you type, lists any problems, and has a Reference tab and a starter template to begin from.

How ShipGenius differs

A workflow is one document you can edit with cards or as code, and switch between the two at any time. It is checked as you edit, can be tested with a dry run against a real record, and keeps every version.

How it works

A workflow is a set of steps that runs when something happens to a record, like a new order coming in. Open Workflows under Automation and start from the template, or write your own.

Builder and Code

The whole workflow is one YAML document. Builder shows it as cards: a trigger card, then a card for each step. Code shows the same document in an editor. Switch between them at any point and your changes carry over.

Checked as you go

The workflow is validated while you edit. Problems are listed with where they are, and selecting one takes you to it. The Reference tab lists the triggers, actions and fields you can use.

What a workflow can do

  • Triggers: Run when a record is created, updated or deleted, on a schedule, or by hand. Narrow it with conditions, a source integration or a saved filter.
  • Actions: Send an order to a facility, rate shop it in a rate group, set the service, run cartonization, hold it, set the priority, validate the address, fill in customs, and more.
  • Logic: If/else, repeat for each, look up records, call a web address, run a script, and stop or skip.

Before you turn it on

Use a dry run to plan the workflow against a real record without changing anything. Every save is kept as a version you can compare, and an on/off switch controls whether it runs.

Read The workflow system for the full list of triggers and actions.
