Ship from the AI you already use

Connect Claude, Cursor or Grok Bot to your ShipGenius account, and it can use our entire public API. Anything an API key can do, your assistant can do, in plain words.

Works on Plus, OMS, Warehouse, and 3PL.

Everything an API key can do, in plain words

Your assistant works through the same public API developers build on. Every query and mutation in the API reference is available to it, with no key to create and no code to write.

How it gets there

  • Search the ShipGenius APIIt finds the operation it needs and the permission that operation requires.
  • Read ShipGenius dataIt runs any query in the public API.
  • Change ShipGenius dataIt runs any mutation in the public API, as you.

    Add to Claude

    On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add ShipGenius first.

Ask in plain words

Know what's going on

How many labels you bought last week by carrier, which orders haven't shipped, where a package is. Your assistant looks it up in your account and answers.

Rate shop and buy the label

Compare prices across DHL eCommerce, DHL Express, FedEx, Passport Global, UniUni, UPS and USPS, then buy the one you want. Check an address or void a label the same way.

Keep inventory right

See what's running low, then update orders, items and inventory without leaving the conversation.

Connected in a few clicks

There's no API key to create and nothing to set up in ShipGenius first.

  1. ConnectAdd ShipGenius in your assistant.
  2. Sign inSign in with your usual ShipGenius login, including your second factor.
  3. ApproveThe consent page lists what your assistant is asking to do. Click Approve.

Steps for your assistant

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose Discover.
  2. Find ShipGenius and click Connect.
  3. Sign in to ShipGenius.
  4. Look over what Claude is asking to do, then click Approve.

Connect Cursor

  1. Open your Cursor MCP settings file, ~/.cursor/mcp.json, and add ShipGenius:
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "shipgenius": {
          "url": "https://api.lite.shipgeni.us/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  2. In Cursor, open Customize, then MCPs, and connect ShipGenius.
  3. Sign in to ShipGenius.

To choose when it asks first, go to Cursor Settings, then Agents, then Approvals & Execution, and pick the mode you want.

Connect Grok Bot

  1. In a Grok Bot chat, ask it to add ShipGenius:
    Add the MCP server at https://api.lite.shipgeni.us/mcp.
  2. When the Connect card appears, choose Authenticate. On a phone, choose Authorize.
  3. Sign in to ShipGenius.
  4. Look over what Grok Bot is asking to do, then click Approve.

To make it wait for your answer every time, add an Ask first rule for buying labels.

It works with your permissions, not around them

It acts as you

Every call runs as the person who connected it. If your role can't buy labels, your assistant can't either.

Admins set the limits

Account admins can limit what an assistant can do for everyone on the account, or turn it off.

Choose when it asks first

Cursor and Grok Bot can run some actions without stopping to ask, and that can include buying a label. Set this up before you start.

Labels can be voided

Labels are paid from your prepaid credits and can be voided until the carrier scans them.

Disconnect any time

Revoke access in Connected apps or remove the connector in your assistant. Access ends right away.

Your conversation stays with you

ShipGenius receives only what each tool needs, never the conversation, your assistant's memory or files you share with it.

Questions, answered

Which plans include this?

The connector works on Plus, OMS, Warehouse, and 3PL, the same plans that include API access. It does not work on Core.

Can it really do everything an API key can do?

Yes. The MCP server runs on the same public schema as the API reference, so every query and mutation documented there is available. The difference is who it acts as: an API key acts as an app with its own roles, while your assistant acts as you, within what your role and your account's admins allow. A single result is limited to 50,000 characters, so your assistant may ask for fewer fields or rows.

Do I need an API key?

No. You sign in to ShipGenius and approve the connection. There's no API key to create and nothing to set up in ShipGenius first.

Can an assistant buy a label without asking me?

Claude asks before it changes anything or buys a label. Cursor and Grok Bot can run some actions without stopping to ask, and that can include buying a label. In Cursor, pick the mode you want under Cursor Settings, then Agents, then Approvals & Execution. In Grok Bot, add an Ask first rule for buying labels, and it will wait for your answer every time.

Can my assistant see other accounts?

No. It works inside your own account, with your own permissions.

How are labels paid for?

Labels bought through an assistant are paid from prepaid credits, so the account needs a balance that covers the label. Everything else works without them. A label can be voided until the carrier scans it.

Can an assistant print a label?

Not by itself. It can get the label as an image or as ZPL, but it can't send a label to a printer. To print on a thermal printer, use the ShipGenius desktop app.

What data does ShipGenius receive?

Only each tool's arguments: a search term, or a query and its variables. ShipGenius never receives the conversation, the assistant's memory or files shared with the assistant, and it does not use the data it serves to train AI models. What the assistant's provider does with the results it receives is governed by that provider's own terms.

Does this work with Grok chat on grok.com?

Not yet. ShipGenius connects to Grok Bot, which is a separate product.

Can I use another MCP client?

Yes. Any other MCP client can connect with an app set up as an OAuth client. The MCP guide has the steps.
