Voiding a Label

Void an unused label from Shipments. A void is a cancellation request to the carrier. When the carrier approves it, the label cost is refunded. Do not void a label you still need to print.

When to void

Void when you bought the label and you will not use it.

• Wrong address, weight, or service
• The order cancelled after you printed
• You bought a second label and the first one is leftover

If the printer jammed, reprint from Shipments first. Reprint is free. You do not need a void for that.

How to void a label

Purchased labels live under Shipments. Tracking for those labels is there too.

1. Open Shipments from the dashboard.
2. Find the unused label. Check tracking so you are not voiding a package that already scanned.
3. If the shipment still shows Void, use Void.
4. Confirm the request if the product asks.

If Void is not there, treat the label as not voidable. Buy a new label if you still need to ship. See Purchasing your First Label.

Do not put a voided label on a box.

What you get back

A void is not a chargeback. It is a carrier cancellation request.

When the carrier approves the void:

• The total label cost is refunded. ShipGenius does not add a void fee.
• If you used your own carrier account (BYO), the $0.06 per-label fee is reversed and removed from your invoice. The carrier-side refund is handled with your carrier.

ShipGenius will not process a void more than 30 days after the label was created. The carrier can close its window sooner. The earlier deadline wins.

Watch Billing and the shipment after you void. There is no published number of days for when the refund lands.

When you cannot void

You cannot void a label when:

• It was already used
• It was already voided
• It is more than 30 days old, or the carrier window already closed

Carriers can also expire an unused label. An expired label that was not voided in time is not owed a refund.

After a 400-label audit

If you just re-quoted old postage, leftover unused labels are cash sitting unused. Void those, then buy the replacement on the right service. The 400-label audit is the math for that pile.

Do I void a label to reprint it?

No. Reprint from Shipments at no additional charge.

Can I void a label that already has a scan?

No. Used labels are not valid to void.

Do I get the $0.06 back on a BYO label?

Yes. Voiding a BYO label removes that line from your invoice. The postage refund is with your carrier.

How long do I have?

30 days from label creation inside ShipGenius, or sooner if the carrier window ends first.
